Everything But The Kitchen Sink! It would seem that this expression is no longer true. Because of the value of scrap metal, stainless steel sinks, copper pipe etc are being stolen from homes in our area that are being refurbished. If you have any work done be extra vigilant, items left the the back garden are not safe. Following the article I wrote about the event at Whitecliff in the last newsletter, Jane has received a couple of phone calls expressing concern about police taking fingerprints of children. She has asked me to clarify that this was for fun only and the prints were not kept to be used in any way. The prints were taken home by the children and parents were always present. Joan. POLICE REPORT. Last month we saw an increase in both vehicle crime and thefts from garages and sheds. I know I am in danger of repeating myself but please do not leave valuables on display in your vehicle when left unattended. It only takes a minute for you (or the thief) to remove them from your vehicle. Believe me, if you don't remove them you will, sooner or later, become a victim of an opportunist thief. Now I know that garages and sheds can be difficult to secure but you really need to, to stop yourself becoming the victim of crime, many of the crimes last month were due to garages and sheds being left unlocked. Pedal cycles are still being targeted, ca I please ask you to contact me and I will fit your bike with a security tag free of charge (while stocks last) you can also security mark you bike with your postcode using a UV pen. If possible lock you bike to something secure inside your garage or shed, as well as locking you garage or shed of course. Fishing equipment is also being targeted so, again, please make sure you postcode your equipment with a UV pen and keep it secure. If you require some crime prevention advice please contact you Safer Neighbourhood team on 07796678451 who will be more than happy to pay you a visit. Debbie Oldfield can also be contacted on 01202227840 as well as offering advice she also has various alarms for sale so give her a ring. The good new is that your Safer Neighbourhood team increased its patrols in the are during October and we have seen a reduction in the crime for the month. Please be our eyes and ears and report anything suspicious. As we head into winter and the dark nights are upon us can I please ask for extra vigilance in keeping yourself and your property safe. Scams (please see Newsflash page)
